Dan In Real Life

My sister was in town from Oakland last weekend and we went to the movies. I highly recommend this one, especially to anyone who has teenage daughters. Enjoy! Read more thorough and educated reviews here.

Shaun Of The Dead - Funniest movie I almost never watched.
I will admit that I am not a big fan of the horror genre and for that reason almost missed this hilarious movie. Basic plot? Self-absorbed 30-something Londoners almost fail to notice zombies have taken over. Their plan? Gather their family and friends together at the local pub (their only idea for a night out AND a safe-haven.) My favorite scene: choreographed fight scene in the bar with the juke-box blaring Queen.
The Notebook - Get a hankie.
It’s a love story, it’s a war story, it has young people, it has Gena Rowlands and James Gardner. If you do not cry, you have no soul.
Where The Red Fern Grows - Classic to read or watch…you choose.
I can’t talk about this one without tearing up, so you will just have to take my word for it. Many of us had it as assigned reading in school. If you didn’t, I assign it to you now. One page book report due next week!
Some of our favorites

I was chatting with a client this afternoon about movies, and it occurred to me that I could let everyone know about our favorites if I put it here!
Silly, Fun & Based on a true story: Kinky Boots. The story of a shoe manufacturer who discovers a niche market and saves the factory. I watched most of it on a flight from NYC to Milan. Those of you who know me are aware that I am absolutley unable to stay awake on a flight and will not be surprised to read that I fell asleep and missed the end. I enjoyed it so much that I Netflixed it when I returned. (If you would like to be added to my Netflix friends list, email me at aura@azarra.com and I will add you!)
Silly, Fun and completely fictional: Saving Grace. Green-thumbed widow, bankrupted by her philandering husband, has to pay back taxes on her lovely English country estate. Her Scottish garderner unwittingly comes to her rescue when he asks for her assistance with a pitiful plant he is trying to cultivate under the shed. The best part is when the old women from the village come over for tea and think the new plant in the green house (about which Grace has been so secretive) is a new tea variety which they sample.
