If you keel over at the salon, we’re gonna pound ya!

New suggestions from the American Heart Association state that even if you are not trained in CPR, you should do chest compressions on someone who has collapsed. So, don’t worry…we’ll pound on you till the paramedics arrive!
Heart group urges “hands-only” CPR in emergencies
By Will Dunham
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Bystanders who see someone suddenly collapse should quickly give the person chest compressions even if they are not trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the American Heart Association said on Monday.
The association urged people not to stand idly by because they do not think they know how to administer CPR while an adult stricken with sudden cardiac arrest is dying in front of them.
In recommendations published in its journal Circulation, the group emphasized “hands-only” CPR — a simple procedure that bystanders can perform without worrying about doing the mouth-to-mouth resuscitation part of CPR.
The Harmon Hub

The Harmon Brewery & Restaurant is close to our hearts because we like the food (favorites are fish & chips and the coconut prawns) and the beer and because it is directly beneath our feet. It is very nice to have a restaurant near the salon. I use it as place to hold meetings with vendors or prospective employees as well as a place to have a drink at the end of the day. (I like the Bartender’s Margarita.)
Saturday Carrie and I went to the Friends and Family opening (pictures here) of their new venture, The Harmon Hub. Be sure to visit them if you like wood fired pizza with a paper thin crust. (Read the whole menu here.) Carrie had the salmon appetizer and I had the caprese sandwich, both of which were darn tasty! We also enjoyed a few more of their Margarita Fresca (fresh juice…very limey…yum!) than we should have. Next time we’ll take a cab.

See you there soon!
For your drinking pleasure
March 31, 2008
Since our good friend Kris sold Vin Grotto, I have had to do more of my drinking at home.
Not that I am complaining, since drinking at home is cheaper and I won’t be driving under the influence.
The last time Kris was over for dinner she had a delightful cocktail that I thought you would enjoy. Here it is (in her words):
Muddle fresh basil, lime slices and vodka with ice.
Good lime vodka would also be a nice touch, but I haven’t seen any since Finlandia which I don’t think they make anymore.
The others are sweetened and gross, so be careful.
